The Hack

So we did what any stubborn parent would do — fired up the laptop and built something ourselves. It wasn't pretty. It was a rough app with hand-written question sets mapped to whatever topic she was doing that week at school. But she sat down and used it. And the next day, she came back for more.

The Breakthrough

AI changed everything

Then we discovered Claude by Anthropic. Suddenly we could generate unlimited, curriculum-aligned questions — accurate, varied, always fresh. Questions that explained why an answer was wrong. Questions pitched exactly to her year group and difficulty level. Within a few weeks, her confidence completely changed. She stopped dreading practice and started asking for it.

The Realisation

We started sharing it with friends and family. The reaction was the same every time — “Can you send me the link?” We realised we hadn't just built something for our daughter. We'd built something that every family in the UK could use. So we rebuilt it properly — as a real platform, for every child, on any device.

Still a family team. Still building.

YearWise covers Years 1–6, all three subjects, every difficulty level — with XP, badges, streaks, and SATs Papers mode. We're still a small team. We still care deeply about every child who uses it.
