1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences and provide a better experience. This policy explains how YearWise, operated by Jagannath Software Services Limited (company no. 07819137), uses cookies.
2. Cookies We Use
| Cookie / Technology | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
yearwise_profile | Essential | Stores your active child profile and session state in localStorage (not a traditional cookie β no data is sent to our servers) | Until cleared |
| Supabase auth token | Essential | Keeps you logged in to your account after authentication | Session / 7 days |
| Stripe session | Essential | Required for secure payment processing during checkout | Session |
| Analytics (anonymous) | Performance | Aggregated, anonymous usage statistics to help us improve the service. No personal data is tracked. | Up to 12 months |
3. Essential Cookies
Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the service to function. They cannot be disabled. They do not track you for marketing purposes and do not require your consent under the UK PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations).
4. Performance Cookies
We may use anonymised analytics to understand how users interact with YearWise (e.g., which features are used most). This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users. We will ask for your consent before setting any non-essential cookies, in line with UK PECR requirements.
5. No Advertising Cookies
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We do not sell or share cookie data with advertisers or data brokers. This is especially important given that our users include children.
6. Managing Cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Common browser guides:
- Chrome: Settings β Privacy and Security β Cookies
- Safari: Preferences β Privacy
- Firefox: Options β Privacy & Security
- Edge: Settings β Cookies and site permissions
Note: disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of YearWise from working correctly (e.g., staying logged in).
7. Local Storage
In addition to cookies, YearWise uses browser localStorage to store your child profile data locally on your device. This data never leaves your device unless you are signed in to a synced account. You can clear this at any time via your browser's "Clear site data" option.
8. Contact Us
If you have any questions about our use of cookies, please contact us at [email protected]. You can also read our Privacy Policy for broader information about how we handle your data.
